Chapter 10
Chapter 10
Not even a moment later, the sound of Jenna's cries attracted a crowd.
After Jenna was rescued from the water, it was no surprise that the first thing she did was to accuse Judy of pushing her.
"Why did you push me, Judy!" She cried in feigned despair.
Judy watched as everyone stared at her with judgmental eyes. She furrowed her eyebrows. There was quite an audience, but she still had to explain herself.
She shook her head as she signed, "I didn't push her."
As the only one who understood sign language, Jenna smirked. Then she exclaimed dramatically, "You said you hate me? Judy… Why do you hate me… We're sisters… How could you?"
Judy's gaze darkened at this. The woman was intentionally twisting her explanation. Based on the expressions of those around them, they clearly bought her lies.
Due to the rumors she was spreading, everyone in the manor now knew that Clark likes her, and was under the impression that Judy played tricks to marry Clark in her place.
Hence, everyone detested Judy and sympathized with Jenna instead. Moreover, her sweet words also aided in winning everyone else over.
"She probably did it because she envied Ms. Jenna," someone said.
"What a vile woman, how could she do that to her own sister," another chimed in.
"She looked so pitiful, who would've thought she was this evil?"
The discussions they were having secretly pleased Jenna. On the surface, however, she put on a sad expression and looked at Sally.
"It's not what you guys think, Mdm. Hebert. My sister didn't do it on purpose!"
Sally's gaze was sharp like a knife. NôvelDrama.Org (C) content.
"We have no business keeping a wicked woman like you in the family!" Sally berated Judy.
Jenna continued adding fuel to the flame. "Please have mercy on my sister, Mdm. Hebert. I understand where she's coming from. If it wasn't for my sudden arrival, she wouldn't have been so triggered to the point where she would do this."
Judy's face fell even more after listening to their words. How could others not see what their goal was?
Jenna wanted to get Judy out of the Reid family, and her goal also coincided with Sally's. The pair were using each other to put on a show. They got along splendidly.
But how could she bear the blame for this?
She took the pen and paper from her bag and wrote: "I want to check the surveillance footage to prove my innocence."
Jenna wasn't nervous in the slightest. "I really don't blame you, Judy. Just admit it. You'd look even worse if you don't, even if we pull out the footage."
Lora interjected. "Ma'am, the cameras are broken."
Sally shot her a look and nodded. She was blatantly lying.
"That's right, it's been broken for quite a few days now. The handyman will only drop by to repair it tomorrow."
Judy felt the sudden urge to laugh.
This was the oldest trick in the book. These women were so cunning it was impossible not to realize it. Yet, they chose to ignore the truth anyway.
Maybe the cameras had been shut off beforehand, that's why they were so nonchalant and unfazed.
Jenna didn't succeed in framing her in front of everybody. Instead, no one here accepted her in the first place. To them, the truth didn't matter. What mattered was that only Jenna Blake deserved to be with Clark Reid.
As for a mute like her?
She simply wasn't good enough!
She'd originally assumed this was a set-up by her sister. She didn't expect the entire household to gang up against her.
Was it premeditated?
Judy was right. As expected, Sally promptly followed up.
"Since there's no use in explaining. You should apologize to Jenna for making a mistake like this!"
Judy's fists tightened subconsciously.
An apology would mean an admittance.
As she endured their nasty stares, it felt as though she was the wicked woman they all made her out to be.
Judy drew a deep breath and was unyielding as she casted them a glance. She wrote her stance down on the paper.
"Why should I apologize for something I didn't do?"
