Chapter 2127
"Am I being too dramatic? I am the mother of the groom, for heaven's sake! Seeing my own son getting pushed around, how can I not be upset?" Angelina's tone was as haughty as ever.
Hertha was about to respond when Alaric stepped forward, shielding her with his body, and confronted Angelina, "Hertha and I are already legally married. The wedding ceremony is just a formality."
He wanted to make it clear to Angelina that he and Hertha were husband and wife in the eyes of the law.
No matter how much she fussed, she couldn't change that fact.
"So what if you're married? People get divorced all the time!" Angelina retorted, stunning everyone around.
It was clear Angelina was intent on causing a scene at the wedding.
Ethan, being Alaric's best man and boss, couldn't just stand by and watch Alaric's big day get ruined.
He stood up to negotiate with Angelina.
"There's a lounge over there. Can we talk this out?" Ethan suggested politely to Angelina.
But Angelina, in a fit of rage, shoved him away, "This is all your fault! If it weren't for you hiring Alaric at your company, he would never have dared to stay away from the Falconer family for so long!"
Ethan staggered back from the force of her shove, still weak from his recent injuries, bracing for a fall.
Unexpectedly, someone caught him from behind.
Turning around, Ethan's face lit up with relief when he saw Lydia.
"Stand firm," Lydia instructed before turning to Angelina with a cool demeanor, "If you're here to celebrate, then please take a seat. If you're here to cause trouble, I'll have to ask you to leave."
"And who do you think you are? Hey, what are you doing!" Angelina was about to retort when Lydia grabbed her wrist and pulled her away forcefully. Despite being a woman, Lydia was surprisingly strong, leaving Angelina unable to resist.

Ethan hurried after them, "Dr. Lydia, do you need help?"
"Better stay behind me. With your frail state, you might end up worse," Lydia quipped.
"Oh, I'd happily stay behind you for a lifetime, if only you'd let me," Ethan joked, delighted.
Lydia ignored him.
Meanwhile, Alaric and Hertha's wedding ceremony resumed.
The disruption had left Alaric flustered and nervous.
As he went to put the ring on Hertha's finger, his hand shook, and the ring dropped to the floor.
"Really, you dropped the ring!" Hertha exclaimed, bending down to pick it up.
As she bent over, the zipper on the back of her dress suddenly split open, eliciting a scream from her, "Ah!"
Alaric, quick as ever, wrapped his arms around Hertha to shield her from prying eyes.
The guests burst into laughter at their comical mishap on stage.
What a pair of jokers, truly made for each other.
