Owe A Debt
Amelia didn’t pay them any heed and was about to dial his number again when she remembered that he had gone to meet his girlfriend.
She almost facepalmed, she didn’t want to disturb them as she had already caused a problem for them by getting married to Alex. if she was the girl, she wouldn’t have been happy to see her boyfriend married to another girl even if it was just a contract marriage.
Amelia didn’t pay attention to them anymore and searched for the number George had called her with the other night and immediately dialed it when she saw the number.
“What if she is a new employee here??” A male worker asked with uncertainty as he looked at Amelia who was oozing confidence all over her.
The receptionist immediately snorted and kicked off the idea, “She claimed she is a new employee on the top floor. Who else is allowed into the top floor if not the executive managers, board of directors and the CEO, and other respective employees,?? and she isn’t fit to be there” the receptionist said and looked at Amelia eyeball to eyeball while glaring at Amelia.
Amelia had pictured a wonderful first day of work but now, it went the wrong way.
Soon a voice came from the other side of Amelia’s phone “Hello”
Amelia immediately held her waist and turned to face the door, backing the employees “Hello, is this George??” Amelia asked to be sure
“Sister-in-law, of course, it’s George on the line” George had already saved Amelia’s contact number the very day he took her number from Alexander’s phone when they went to execute Lorenzo Go at the bar.
“Phew..” Amelia breathed in a sigh of relief turned to face the workers and asked “Are you in Ron’s headquarters now??”
When the male employee who had asked if she was an employee, immediately started doubting the authenticity of the receptionist’s words.
“I can’t get myself involved in this, I’m off” the male employee immediately said and the receptionist turned towards him
“Don’t you want the 15 dollars??” The receptionist asked the man who shook his head repeatedly ” No I don’t ”
“Then I’ll keep your share,” the receptionist said with a smile, that was 30 dollars already, and the money for the bag was almost complete.
She clicked her tongue when she saw Amelia still on the phone but a part of her was getting uneasy.RêAd lat𝙚St chapters at Novel(D)ra/ma.Org Only
“Okay please can you come down, the receptionist is one hell of a character,” Amelia said and threw a side glance at the receptionist.
“Okay thank you,” Amelia said with courtesy and ended the call.
“Mr. George will be here in five minutes,” Amelia said provocatively at the receptionist.
Some of the employees immediately felt uneasy as some scurried away while some stood to watch how it was going to end.
“Please take all the money, we don’t want it anymore, ” some of the employees said while the others nodded in agreement.
If was already a lifetime blessing that they were able to work in Ron’s headquarters, even big directors of other companies still gave them respect for only being a small employee at Ron’s headquarters, they didn’t want to take chances with their jobs just because of 15 dollars that weren’t even up to their monthly salary.
The receptionist’s face turned grim when she saw that she was now on her own as the other employees withdrew from her side, but immediately her face turned to that of a happy person when she thought that she would be getting all their money to herself.
Which she estimated to be 180 dollars, it was already a good thing for her.
With confidence, she buffed up her chest as she watched Amelia “You lying snake, since you said so, okay I’ll give you some time to keep that proud expression on until the five-minute excuse is over and you get all red due to embarrassment “the receptionist said in certainty and she set a time alarm on as they all waited.
Amelia glared hard at the receptionist “It will be so entertaining to see how that fake and plastic face of yours turns out ugly in a few minutes and don’t worry about me, I’m not poor but you should think more of yourself, you might lose your job in five minutes” Amelia said with a cold arc on her lips, a smile that wasn’t yet a smile, she looked condescending and arrogant with that expression, full of self-pride.
“I wonder which damn company would want to hire a wretched woman that was kicked out of Ron’s headquarter, oh now I know, probably a small pencil-producing company will” Amelia provoked the receptionist as she kept a neutral face
“Pfft..” some workers couldn’t hold back their laughter while some swallowed it down to the stomach.
The receptionist almost wavered when she thought of their bet but then again, Amelia said she called mr George, that was too funny.
George was one of the top employees here and he couldn’t be summoned by just anyone to talk more of a girl who wasn’t worth her nails.
The receptionist was full of confidence again “You’ve got a sharp tongue, I must say but let’s just wait for how you get embarrassed ” The receptionist smiled and soon her alarm went off, five minutes was over.
The employees looked at Amelia and looked at the private elevator that the top employees usually take but there was no sign of Mr George.
They were starting to regret that they rejected the money and the receptionist would have it all.
The receptionist gave them a pro-founding and provocative smile “What?? Regret it now?? But too late, I got all the money cause I have good eyesight, when I see fraudsters I know them” The receptionist looked past them and gazed at Amelia whose face was still cold without a ripple in her expression, she wasn’t in a panic state as the receptionist had expected, she still looked calm.
The receptionist scoffed when she thought that Amelia was probably trying to look cool by being or looking composed, her mind must have been in turmoil by now but she didn’t want to show it.
As the receptionist thought of those ‘facts’ she looked more vexed as she looked at Amelia with a deep frown
“Trying to act cool now?? Just drop the act if I were you, five minutes is over already, and you owe me a debt of 180 dollars so come let me give you my bank details so you can deposit the money immediately before leaving, and don’t even try anything funny” the receptionist said with full confidence which made Amelia’s brow twitched in a displeased manner.
