Mr Grant, Please Be Gentle

Chapter 13 Battling The Bitchy Mother-in-law

After forty minutes, Matthew pulled his car over in front of the Grant mansion. He and Blanca came to the door and pressed the bell.

The old butler Mr. Johnson answered the door. He smiled and welcome them in.

“Mr. Grant is still painting in his study and your father is in the backyard. You can go to the backyard first and then to the second floor,” said Mr. Johnson. He placed two pairs of slippers on the floor before Matthew and Blanca entered the house.

Matthew changed his shoes and went to the kitchen to get himself a glass of water.

Blanca was a little slow. By the time she changed her shoes and looked up, she saw a middle-aged woman in a blue silk dress walking towards her.

Her curly hair was tucked nicely and her beautiful almond eyes was filled with bitter.

Blanca thought this must be Matthew’s stepmother Carrie.

“Good evening, Ma’am.”

She greeted her politely.

Carrie looked her up and down despitefully and didn’t answer. She turned around and said to Mr. Johnson, “Get a plastic bag for Miss Roach’s shoes. I can’t stand the smell of cheap leather.”Content © NôvelDrama.Org 2024.

Mr. Johnson glanced at Blanca awkwardly and didn’t know what to do.

However, Blanca picked up her shoes with a smile and handed them to Mr. Johnson, “Please. I don’t want my shoes to get this disgusting stink of money.”

If somebody was nice to her, Blanca would always repay them tenfold.

But if someone wanted to embarrass her, she would definitely get back at them.

“You!” Carrie was so mad and found it hard to contain her anger, “You nothing but a poor village girl. You gold-digger throw yourself on Matthew and I didn’t know you had got such a mouth.”

Ever since Carrie was married to the Grant family, she had been plotting to make her own son inherit the family business. But he was only ten years old. And Mr. Grant didn’t acknowledge the child. The only way she could get her little boy some advantages was to wait for his death. So, she wanted Matthew to marry her daughter and her daughter could carry his child. Only this way could she put her feet down in the Grant family.

But Matthew never accepted Louise and his father said they were still siblings even though they were not related. There was no way he would approve their marriage.

Just when Carrie was wondering how to get these two together, Blanca came along.

How could she not get angry?

Blanca laughed, “If I’m a gold-digger, who are you? A master of gold-digging?”

Carrie was now literally quivering with anger.

Louise rushed over to held her mother and looked resentfully at Matthew, who seemed to be like an outsider, “Matthew, how could you let her say that to mom?”

Blanca was a little worried and peeked at Matthew.

Before they came, he warned her not to get into trouble. But she just couldn’t help.

She was still wondering if Matthew was mad at her, he grabbed a small piece of cake and put it in her mouth, “Eat more and talk less. If you get my stepmother and sister angry again, I’ll punish you tonight.”

After that, he held her shoulders and walked towards the backyard.

Blanca’s face flushed as she was chewing the cake. What kind of punishment was that? It was like showing off!

Matthew was a badass…

Louise saw what happened and her eye brims got red, “Mom, will I ever have a chance?”

Carrie gave her daughter a sad look and said, “How dare that girl steal a man from my daughter? I’ll make her pay.”

“Mom, should we hire someone to ruin her face? Let’s see if Matthew will like her hideous face.”
