His Mansion
“She has her reason alright. She’s an ambitious woman and I love that about her.” he said.
“Yeah…. she’s ambitious alright, but I sense that isn’t the type of wife you want. You just don’t want to admit that because you love her.” she said.
“Look, Marissa. You don’t know shit about me alright. So don’t you dare judge me!” he said.
“Okay….. I’m just stating the fact because you and I both know that she isn’t what you want…. you are just too dumb to realize that she would always choose her work before you. So she would never be ready to marry you, Alexander.” she said.
“That’s enough! I don’t think I want to continue having this conversation with you.” he said, getting up to leave.
Marissa watched as Alexander stood up, clearly upset by their conversation. She didn’t want to push him too far, but she also couldn’t help but speak her mind.
“Alexander, I’m not trying to upset you,” she said in a softer tone,
“I just want you to be happy. If Jessie makes you happy, then that’s what matters most.”
He glared at her, his frustration evident.
“Marissa, why don’t you just mind your own business? You don’t know the first thing about my relationship with Jessie.”
She hesitated for a moment, taken aback by his harsh words. “I… I didn’t mean to overstep. I’m sorry.”
They fell into an uncomfortable silence, both aware that their fake marriage was becoming more complex with each passing day.
While in the car, both said nothing to each other and the drive to her apartment was awkward.
Why was she worried about him getting hurt? They were not a real couple so what’s the issue here?
She stole glances at him while he wasn’t looking.
Why was she concerned about him?
She turns and shakes her head.
“Marissa, you don’t need to concern yourself with his personal life. You’re just his fake wife and it’s only for three months and after that you’ll have your life back and he will have his.
The both of you would go your separate ways never to cross paths again.” she told herself in her mind.
When they arrived at her apartment the car packed in front of a small house.
“So this is where you live huh?” he asked, looking at the apartment with disgust.
“Yes, this is where I live. What’s wrong with it?” she asked.
“It’s ugly, that’s what.” he said, still looking at the house with disgust.
“Well, this is what I can afford.” she said.
Alexander’s rude comment about her apartment didn’t sit well with Marissa, but she chose to brush it off. She didn’t want to get into a confrontation with him, especially considering the delicate situation they were in.
As they both got out of the car, Marissa led the way to her apartment. It was a modest, cozy place that she had worked hard to maintain.
“I know it’s not as fancy as what you’re used to, but it’s home,” she said, trying to defend her living arrangements.
Alexander didn’t respond, and Marissa couldn’t help but wonder what he thought of her humble abode. However, she reminded herself that this fake marriage was only temporary, and soon they would both go their separate ways.
“So pack your bags now, we are leaving,” he said.Owned by NôvelDrama.Org.
“Why?” she asked.
“Really? You had to ask me that?” he asked, pointing at the rundown apartment she was staying in.
“I can’t possibly let you stay here and besides we agreed to stay together until after three months.” he said.
“You know what…. don’t pack anything, we will get you new clothes and all so you’d fit the part of my wife.” he said.
“I don’t want you going around looking like…..”
“Looking like what?” she asked, already getting angry at what he’s about to say.
“Well…. like a girl with a lot of issues.” he said.
“Yes, I do have a lot of issues as you can see.” she said pointing at her apartment.
“But I’m not afraid to admit or accept myself the way I am. You just have issues with accepting me just the way I am.”
“Just let’s go.” he said.
“Let me remind you that we need to both respect each other’s opinions and not get on each other’s nerves.” she said.
“Yeah yeah yeah…. I know… you don’t have to tell me twice.”
“So can we go now…. it’s getting late?” he asked.
“Yes, we can.” she said, as they walked out of her apartment and back into his car.
“So where are we going?” she asked.
“To one of my mansion that I had prepared beforehand for this whole fake marriage thing,” he said.
“Don’t you worry, you will love it.” he said.
As they drove to the mansion, Marissa couldn’t help but feel a mix of emotions.
She was grateful for the opportunity to escape her small, rundown apartment, but she also knew that this was just another part of the charade.
She glanced at Alexander, who seemed lost in thought. Despite his tough exterior and arrogant attitude, there was something about him that intrigued her.
She wondered what had led him to agree to this fake marriage, and why he was willing to go to such lengths to secure a contract.
For now, Marissa decided to focus on the task at hand and make the best of their three-month arrangement.
As they arrived at the mansion, Marissa was taken aback by its elegance and luxury.
It was clear that Alexander had spared no expense in preparing this place for their fake marriage.
“Wow, this place is amazing,” she remarked, genuinely impressed.
Alexander smirked, seeming pleased with her reaction.
“I’m glad you like it. This is where we’ll be staying during our fake marriage.”
Marissa couldn’t help but feel a sense of unease. She knew that this charade was necessary for both of them, but being in such close quarters with Alexander for the next three months was going to be a challenge.
“Alright, let’s get settled in,” Alexander said, breaking her thoughts.
“We have a lot to discuss and plan for our fake wedding.”
