Stomach Ulcer
“So, when I saw them leaving, although I was very weak, I tried to run so I could catch up with them but my vision became blurry and I only realised myself when I woke up from the hospital bed yesterday evening…”
After listening to the story, Elion glanced at Ella’s back and frowned slightly.
Mrs. Sam wiped Ella’s eyes and comforted her.
“You have us now. You see, when my husband just got married to me, we had a lot of misunderstandings from the beginning but now…”
“Why will your husband abandon you on your wedding day?” Asked Sam
“He didn’t abandon me. They really had something to do on the farm.” Ella quickly replied
Mrs. Sam smiled and said cheerfully,
“I know you love your husband. If not, you won’t be defending him, and so you have to forgive him.”
Ella remained silent and Mrs. Sam continued.
“It’s alright if you don’t love him, with time you will learn to love him…”
“I know.” Responded Ella. “You see, when I met him, I was determined to love him. Many people are laughing at me because I got married to a cripple but I don’t mind at all…”
“But why will a pretty girl like you marry a cripple?” Asked Mr. Sam.”
“It’s not his fault that he is crippled. When I was told that I was going to marry a crippled man, I did a lot of research and found out that depending on the cause of his disability, it can he corrected medically but even if it won’t be corrected, I won’t leave him as long as he is willing to be with me.”
“So… ” Sam was about to speak when Elion interrupted him.
“Who gave you the right to bring in strangers into my house?”
Elion asked with a very cold domineering voice.
The three of them quickly stood up like children who were caught doing something bad. Sam and his wife were so shocked and wondered how a crippled man can have such a domineering and an overbearing aura.Content bel0ngs to Nôvel(D)r/a/ma.Org.
Ella stepped forward but avoided his eyes and quickly explained.
“They are the people that helped me when I collapsed yesterday. They helped rush me to the hospital…”
Mrs. Sam Interrupted with a calm voice.
“We are sorry to come into your house without your knowledge. Actually we came back with Ella this morning from the hospital and after we parted ways, we realised that we forgot to hand her medical report to her so we came here to give it to her.”
Elion scanned Mrs. Sam and Sam and glanced at the table but didn’t see any medical report and thought he had caught them red handed. With an evil smile, he stretched his left hand and said coldly.
“Hand me the medical report.”
Sam quickly looked around and saw the medical report behind Henry who had been standing quietly behind Elion. Sam hurried towards Elion with empty hands as if he wanted to beg for mercy.
Seeing this, Elion smiled and was about to say something but closed his mouth after realising that Sam passed him.
Sam picked up the report and before he handed it to Elion, he explained.
“Sorry we dropped it by the door. When we walked in, we saw Ella’s unconscious body on the floor and we couldn’t think straight reason why we threw it here.”
After he explained, Elion didn’t reply and his hand was still stretched so Sam closed his mouth and handed him the report
After taking the report, Elion opened it and read line after line. As he read down, he suddenly went back to the first page as though something strange crossed his mind. He looked at Ella’s name and realised that her surname was Madison. He looked at it for some time before flipping his eyes back to where he was. He suddenly opened his eyes in shock then threw a quick glance at Ella and back to the report. Henry had witnessed Elion’s sudden glance and followed Elion’s eye back to the report. He suddenly bent down closer to the report and his eyes focused on the word ulcer.
He stood up, looked at Ella with a questioning look. He looked at Elion and could read through his mind so he quickly asked.
“You have a stomach ulcer?”
With her hands holding tight to the hem of her gown, she nodded a yes.
“How did it come about?”
Immediately Henry asked this question, Elion, whose eyes were buried in the report, suddenly looked at Ella as if he wanted to get the answer just by looking at her.
With her eyes fixed on the floor, she responded with a calm voice as though she was about to cry.
“It was caused by gastritis.”
“I see.” Said Henry.
Elion didn’t say anything so Ella remained quiet and pinned to the same spot.
After waiting for long, Elion didn’t say anything but kept staring at Sam and his wife.
Noticing what he wanted, Sam turned to his wife with a serious face.
“What is it with that serious face?” Mrs. Sam asked her husband.
“It’s good we give the young couple some space.” Sam unwillingly explained.
“Then let me grab the bag outside.”
She rushed outside and came in with a shopping bag. As soon as she walked in, Elion’s gaze was fixed on the bag and Mrs. Sam hurriedly explained.
“When we left the hospital this morning, we passed through the market and bought some food stuff for Ella. Please don’t misunderstand us. We weren’t overlooking your position as her husband, just that she has a stomach ulcer and the doctor said she doesn’t need to go hungry. Since we didn’t know you were back, we had no choice than to buy her all of these.”
Seeing the cold sweat on his wife’s face, Sam stood beside his wife and explained.
“My wife and I have no child, and since we came across Ella, we really can’t get over her. We can’t help but treat her like our own daughter and since she told us this morning in the hospital that she has no parents, we just became a complete family.”
“Enough.” Elion spat with an indifferent voice and one couldn’t tell if he was angry or not.
Sam took his wife’s hand and said farewell to Ella.
“Ella you know the house, please don’t hesitate to come over and say hi if your husband and brother leave you alone at home.”
Ella just nodded with her eyes still fixed on the floor.
Sam and his wife left without a second glance and the house fell into a grave silence.
After rubbing her stomach, Ella suddenly broke the silence.
With a voice full of fear, she asked.
“Can I use the kitchen?”
Elion didn’t respond but gave her a cold but overbearing glance
