Chapter 17
Sofia Andrew
After a long day, I decided to rest my body by taking a long shower, eating delicious food, and resting. But the world just won't give me a break, and someone rang the doorbell.
I opened it and immediately frowned. Are you serious?
"I am not particularly fond of seeing you either, but what can we do?" Angel said as he noticed the look on my face and went straight inside like it was his house.
"You may come in," I said sarcastically and closed the door.
I followed him, and he stopped in the middle of my living area with his hands on his hips, I knew my bad day wasn't over yet.
If you didn't want to see me, why are you here? I asked in my head and made a face.
"We need to talk. How are you feeling today?" He asked in a surprisingly calm manner.
I looked at him, and I still can't get used to him expressing his worry.
"I'm alright," I replied, and I went back to the kitchen to finish what I was doing.
"That looks delicious. I didn't know you could cook."
"There are a lot of things you don't know about me, Angel. You don't know what I like, my dreams, my favorite color or food, and many more. So how can you know something as simple as this?" I asked him with a raised eyebrow.
"There are a lot of things you like. You have so many dreams, like fashion design. Your favorite color is blue and turquoise. Your favorite food is Chinese. You can't sleep without reading a book or a chapter."
I admit that I was shocked and taken aback before I composed myself.
"Okay. What do you want? Wait, I think I know. Because your mother, sister, and unknown girlfriend complained to you that I was bad to them."
"Stop the sarcasm," he said, and I sat down in front of the counter where I was cooking.
"Yes, they told me what happened," he admitted, and I gave him a side glance.
I'm sure I was the villain in their story again, and he's here to probably scream at me and fight me again.
"They are the ones who started it, and they should be thankful that I was being nice. So if you're here to take their side, you may leave. And if you're not here for that, you may leave as well."
I prepared a plate and arranged my sandwich according to my liking. I also added all of the condiments I had, and I could feel Ange's distaste, but I ignored him and finished my strawberry juice.
"I don't think that's healthy," he commented, and I just shrugged as I turned to him.
"My dinner, my choice. You never cared what I ate before when I was your wife." I pointed out and rolled my eyes before leaving him there to eat in the dining room. "The lawyer has yet to send me the revised version, so technically, you're still my wife."
"Well then, if that's the case, then I am the poor wife being cheated on by her husband and his ex."
"Where did that come from?"
"Well, I just came to know that your family and your beloved girlfriend are going behind your back and practically shouting that you left me for her."
"That can't be true. I told them not to do that."
"Tell them that and not to me."
I took a bite of my sandwich and hummed as I chewed, and Angel let out an annoyed sound.
"That isn't food. You could have ordered something."
"I could have, but I didn't. Yesterday, I was in the hospital, and I don't want to go back there for overeating."
He stared at me for a few seconds, and I couldn't read him at all. Just what is he thinking?
"Will you tell me why you're really here?" I asked them to stop what he was doing.
"I'm just trying to understand why a smart woman like you visited the bastard who almost raped you." I stilled and put down my sandwich. "I see that you're shocked that I know."
"Are you stalking me now?" I asked in annoyance.
"No, Sofia. Why would I do that?"
"Then how did you know that I saw Alexis?"
"The right question is, why were you there? After what happened?"
"We have a matter we need to resolve, and it does not interest you. By the way, he is beyond unrecognizable. He can sue you or worse."
"That wasn't enough, and you just stopped me. What business can you possibly have with an idiot like him?"
"Just some affairs, Angel. I don't think I need to explain it to you. You know, you've really been pushy these days."
"And do you know that you are being careless? Sofia, he almost molested you. You ended up in a hospital because you were careless. You refused to eat. I told you to rest, but what did you do? You fought with my family."
"You... first of all, I didn't fight with your family. I was on a lunch date with Amelia when they came and messed with me with the intention of shaming me. Do you think I'll just let them treat me like that?" "Why did you listen to them? I know you have more common sense than them."
"Are you defending me?"
"No, I'm just telling you that I'm fair. I know them, and I know you don't really get along, so I can imagine that they must have done something. What did you tell them?" "They didn't tell you?"
"I want to hear it from you," and that shuts me up in disbelief. For the first time, he asked before screaming. "Why are you looking at me like that?"
I stood up and went closer to where he was.
"Angel, do you have a psychological illness I am not aware of?" I asked, and he rolled his eyes. "I don't know. Like bipolar, personality disorder, or multiple personality disorder? Or something like that?" "Sofia, you are not funny."
"Me? Ever since you dated an angelic girlfriend in college, you never once showed an interest in me. We got married, and from that day on, we barely talked unless it was about business, and by doing so, we ended up fighting over what I said I did to you. Now at this point, do you really care about me? You can't blame me for thinking you might actually be mentally ill."
"I am not sick in the head, Sofia. I just want peace as much as possible, and I realized that you don't know how to take care of yourself. Now, will you tell me or should I stick with the version they gave me?"
I just don't feel like answering him while I'm looking at his face. He looks so arrogant. Handsome but arrogant.
"Do what you want to do. You always believe everyone before me anyway, so I'm immune by now."
"God, you're impossible. I came here to listen to your side, and that's what you're telling me," he said with an annoyed look on his face.
"It's too late for that. I will just tell you one thing: tell your mother to be careful with how she treats me and be careful with her words. She should remember that I'm the one who was treated badly by your whole family. Because the next time, I won't be too nice. And start teaching your girlfriend how to behave in public. Do not drag me into your problems anymore. Are we clear?"
"Sometimes, I'm having a hard time believing that you didn't do what you told me you didn't, especially when you act like that."
"I told you I don't care what you think of me anymore. Go be with your nice girlfriend and your perfect family, and leave me alone. How does that sound?"
"I will never understand how someone can be so obsessed to the point of inventing something just to marry them."
I groaned in frustration. "I already explained to you about those pictures, and if you don't believe me, then what can I do? Should I create a billboard ad with my explanation? That's a waste of money and totally useless."
"You'd be surprised," Angel replied with a chuckle.
What did he mean by that? Ugh! This man is making me crazy!Contentt bel0ngs to N0ve/lDrâ/ma.O(r)g!
"I don't want to be surprised because that might make me crazy, and I love my sanity. Now I'm asking you to leave. Thank you."
"I don't want to leave. I want to talk to you," he said stubbornly.
"So if you like to, we'll talk. Why don't we do this? I'll pay for your medical expenses for them to check your head so people won't say that I was a terrible wife."
He only gave me a blank look. "Funny. Should I laugh now?"
"Take care of yourself because your mood swings are scary, Angel. Tell me who will suddenly care for someone they hated for five years? That isn't normal. Maybe you have Stockholm syndrome." I continued to taunt him with a shake of my head.
"Syndrome," he repeated, taking a deep breath. "By God and his angels, why would I have that?"
"How would I know? That isn't my field. Mine's engineering." I responded with a nonchalant shrug.
"Speaking of which, now that we have a new automotive designer, I would like to show you something because now I have to tell you first, right?"
"I know what you want: to make me go insane so I will be admitted or kill you, but you won't succeed."
"Don't challenge me, Sofia; you'll lose. And no, I don't need to drive you crazy because you already are. You better finish your food."
Ugh!
