Verena’s POV

I jolted awake. It felt like my body is floating. The soft mattress against my back comforted the ache of my whole body.

I walked towards the door unsteadily, I can feel my feet wobble. I made my way out of the house to examine the area. There is no one except the guards outside the house.

“Where are they?” I asked with a hoarse voice.

“Ma’am, we are informed that you are only to be found in your bedchamber and not in the grounds. You’re safety will be at stake.” The guard sing song. My mind didn’t register any of his speech. I felt so lightheaded. I grab his arrow and shoot him a warning look.

I run off to the gates until and climb off the wall. It was chaos.

“Gods,”

Multiple flesh came out of the land. They’re slower but their piercing fangs chug down a horse, I don’t know where it came from. Few werewolves are fighting back to back. I held the string of my arrow and shoot the things that are trying to climb the wall from outside.

Damon came into view, he is not in his werewolf form but he moves as fast as the lightning bolt. God he looks hot while slaying every heads that came to his view.

I released another arrow and then watched it cut through the night, smacking into the back of the thing’s head. My lip curled as the thing shattered into nothing.

Ryan said that they were Unknowns earlier, but I can’t see the Unknowns. He must be tripping and lost track that he think that these things are the Unknowns.

Damon spun around, catching my attention. he caught the thing in one hand, lifting the enormous creature. He slammed the thing into the ground, planting a booted foot against its throat and reaching across his chest to unsheathe the short sword with a blade that glinted like the moonlight. He brought it down with a quick thrust, and the thing was no more.

“There’s more!” a guard down the wall shouted. “They are coming.”

My nape hurts again. I let go of the arrow that it fell off unto the other side of the wall. The burst of pain transcends me to scream.

My body jerked. I scream until I felt my throat heats up from the spasms. My head swung backwards as I hit myself with my own fist.

The scream didn’t end up for more minutes, it was hell. My skin started breaking off, ’til the rapid light once again coated my body.

When my tears flowed, I found myself catching my breath. I clutched my throat from the ache and my heart as it beats relentlessly.

When my vision steadied. The chaos came into view.Content held by NôvelDrama.Org.

No more of them, the guards started changing into their human form. And I saw how Damon’s blue eyes peered into me.

He’d bled tonight. He tipped his head back, looking up at the top of the gates to where I stood. My breath caught, even though I knew he was only checking to make sure I was still alive.

Glimmering bluish-red blood ran down his cheeks and from where his black shirt was ripped on his chest, but his steps were long and sure.

I got off the wall with ease. The werewolves changed into their human form and made sure everybody is not hurt badly. Some are injured and others bled like Damon, but they saw the opportunity not to think of it as badly as I think.

I saw Damien gawking at Lucas who is seriously needs aid. He injured his left foot. Damien sighed and help Lucas to his own back to carry him. I smiled, that’s not how enemies treat their rival. That’s the show of care and respect, hmm something is really off.

I waited at the foot of the thrones after the chaotic war against the things, sitting on the edge of the dais. Damon had ordered that they take me back to the pack house, and I thought the decision had a lot to do with all the dying and dead around me. I don’t think that the attack was mere coincidence. It began after what I did with Rhain so I think it rooted from there. Damien and Rox guarded me as if I’ll escape after doing things that are quite unpredictable.

Damon stopped few feet away from me. “Were you hurt?”

I shook my head, “No… I well you were the hurt one.” I sucked in a startled breath as Damon suddenly stood in front of me, having moved faster than I could track. Before I could even twitch, he hooked an arm under my right thigh and lifted my leg. Surprise shot through me, and I started to tip sideways. He curved his other arm around my waist, steadying me. I had no idea what he was doing, but I couldn’t move or think as I stared into his flat eyes.

“Uh,” Damien murmured.

Without saying a word or breaking eye contact, he slid his hand down my thigh. A sharp swirl of tingles followed the glide of his palm and my breath caught. He smirked as his cool fingers drifted over my now-exposed knee. What was he-?

His gaze held mine as he reached down, curling those fingers around the hilt of my dagger. He slid it free.

I almost forgot that before going out earlier I got the dagger Rox gave me and place it into my thigh.

“I don’t want you bringing a dagger around.” He muttered.

“What about the things and… and what happened to Rhain?”

“You mean what happened to you. What was that Verena?” His thick voice consumed me.

“I don’t… know,”

“Fun fact, you gave me another reason to keep you away from me.”

My stupid heart skipped a beat from his remark, he smirked.

“We suspected that they happened to attacked when you use your gift to Rhain.” The alpha said.

I swallowed my own saliva.

“Sorry, promise I didn’t know… it just well it just occurred out of nowhere.” I said in a low tone, panicking of what might plans they have for me.

God, my life is so shitty.

“It’s okay, I’ve seen it, we know you’re as clueless as we are.” Damon assured me.

My attention shifted to the tears in his shirt. The splotches of darker material along his chest had spread.

“You’re bleeding,”

“Yeah I am,”

“Damon you’re not healing.” That not a question from the beta. He is not healing.

“I don’t know,”

“What do you mean you don’t know?” The Alpha hissed.

“I’ll just need a clean up and a good sleep dad. We’re staying at my house for tonight. You can send me a message through the mind link.” Damon appealed.

“That is not how you’re wounds be tended Damon,” the pack doctor said. Everyone gave Damon a look of disapproval.

“You need to feed Damon.” Damien said.

“Do you have a death wish?” Damon narrowed his eyes at him, sending him a glare.

“You’re being stubborn son,”

“Dad please I’m tired,”

“Alright, leave him alone. We’ll pack this up tomorrow,” the Alpha announced.

Damon looks tired, and I know feeding him might lessen my punishment from him tomorrow.

“You didn’t obey what I’ve commanded Verena, a punishment will suffice that.” He trailed off while tracing his fingertips in my cheek.
