The party
A woman in a red dress moving confidently across a room filled with masculine scents has an alluring quality. The males in the men’s room all stared at the lone woman who entered.
“Miss?” asked the man positioned beside the cubicle.
With a low curse, Jenica fled into the corner stall and locked it from the inside. She put the earpiece to use and contacted the assistant. Her heart couldn’t slow down.
“Agent J,” her aide said, “I traced suspicious activities inside the hall.”
Jenica squinted her eyes. Of course, she was also aware of it. She knew as soon as she stepped inside that Jared had personnel in high society. But she wasn’t expecting to see her Uncle Marc, whom she hadn’t seen in years.
She let out a sigh. She responded, “I’ll take care of them,” and hung up.
Someone knocked on the cubicle door at that exact moment. “Miss?”
Jenica pressed her lips together as she swiftly tucked the earpiece inside her bra. She swiftly pulled the hem of her scarlet gown and removed a little sachet holding wine. She grabbed it, tossed the sachet in the toilet, and flushed it before opening the cubicle door.
*bleep*
She flung herself at the man, clutching the necktie tightly, and puked on him.
“What the hell!” shouted the man, grasping her shoulder.

With a swift motion, Jenica shoved the man and exited the men’s room. She took a quick look around and discovered that the person who had been following her had vanished. Jenica smirked. She stepped into the parking space, opened the car door, and climbed inside.
Inside the car, she changed into a new clothing quite quickly. It was a white evening gown with a foot-long skirt and fabric that hugged her curves. Before getting out of the car, she also put on the ring, earrings, and white necklace.
She gently put on the fox mask she had purchased in Hong Kong a week before. She only decided to put it on now because no one should see Doctor Acinea’s face.
“Move! Move quickly! That woman is sly; every woman in a red dress is a target!” she heard the man in the corridor order. He was dressed in a suit and tie, so she assumed he was a member of the building’s security team.
Jenica’s lips pursed as she approached Venice Hall, the largest hall in the SMX center building. There will be a high-society gathering for Doctor Acinea’s welcome party.
She went through the locked hallway she had visited before. Outside the door stood five men dressed in tuxedos. They sure are fast to break the news, she thought to herself.
Just this morning, HQ received information regarding the poisonous needles. At a wedding reception held at the Marion Hall in the SMX center, there was a rumor that a large sum of money was placed on the bride’s head. Upon intercepting the person who accepted the mission on the black market, the HQ agent claimed to have come across the poisonous needles that were used to repel people.
Jenica accepted the side task since it was one of her missions even though HQ had only given her the order to watch the wedding festivities.
Everything got problematic since her Uncle Marc noticed her and wanted to introduce her to some of Jared’s workers, whom she believe her Uncle Marc is unaware of, at the wedding reception which was the thing she hadn’t anticipated.
She said goodbye to her Uncle, and just as she was about to leave the hall, the bride was assassinated. And the groom pointed her out as the suspect.
What a pity. Why did the bride come to her before collapsing and vomiting blood?
She quickly fled so that no one would recognize her. That’s when the chase between her and the security guards began. Actually, she was able to release evidence proving that she did not murder the bride, but Jared’s men were present.© NôvelDrama.Org - All rights reserved.
Although the chances of Jared recognizing her are slim, it’s best to be cautious. It’s not the right time to show him her face yet.
Using the earpiece, she called the assistant. “Send the evidence now,” she said before hanging up the phone. HQ’s evidence will show that she did not murder the bride. That was enough to keep the bride’s family from pursuing her, but it didn’t reveal who was to blame. Still, all she wanted was to stop that family from pursuing her.
And what about her Uncle Marc? Jenica let out a sigh. She’ll just call her Uncle the next time they see each other.
She took a deep breath and entered the Venice hall where Doctor Acinea’s welcome party was being held. The corner of her mouth twitched, and she waved to the guests who stood and applauded.
“Welcome to the country, Doctor Acinea! We’re delighted to have you!”
Doctor Acinea is a well-known medical professional throughout the world. She was well-known for her surgical and medical abilities, particularly when she rescued the son of the Count U’s President in a hiking accident five years ago. There was a nationwide search for that doctor, but it was unsuccessful.
A year later, it was revealed that Doctor Acinea had saved the dying wife of the world’s richest billionaire. Acinea’s rescue of Country J’s Prime Minister and her treatment of Country G’s high ranking official were discussed after a few days.
Following that, the name Acinea became popular. She was sought after and invited by the world’s most powerful countries, but Acinea’s shadow was never seen again.
Jenica arched her brow. The palace invited her to the welcome party, which was held exclusively for her as Doctor Acinea. She had expected the province’s and capital’s most powerful clans to attend, so she was not surprised to see Alex and the Antonete siblings there.
It’s a good thing she was wearing a mask because she was confident that the two Antonetes wouldn’t recognize her, especially Gia, who approached her after she had finished speaking with the President.
Gia smiled broadly and her eyes sparkled as she took both of Doctor Acinea’s hands in hers. “Doctor Acinea, I am your super fan!” exclaimed the woman.
The woman’s grip on Jenica’s hands tightened, raising the latter’s eyebrows. A security guard approached Gia and gently reprimanded her. “Miss, you can’t touch Doctor Acinea’s hand.”
Gia’s smile faded as she stared at the newcomer. “Don’t you know who I am? I am the daughter of Antonete –”
“Gia,” Dante scolded as he drew his sister away from Doctor Acinea.
Jenica’s lips twitched as she looked back at the two retreating figures. She then took a look around. There were no suspicious Jared’s staff members inside.
And, on a rare occasion, after greeting the high-ranking officials and some of the powerful families, Jenica was left alone while everyone else was busy forming connections. She went to the corner where no one was looking at her because she preferred to avoid crowded places. But what she thought was a peaceful environment was infested with someone she didn’t want to see.
“Do you think you can fool me with that ridiculous mask, wife?” Alex asked, swirling at the contents of his wine glass, his warm gaze fixed on her.
Jenica’s pupils constricted. “I think you’ve mistaken me for someone, Mister,” she denied before turning around.
She took a step back, but Alex caught her wrist and stopped her. “So, you’re Dr. Acinea.”
