Chapter 5
Gina.
The entire pack house was bursting with activities as guests started trooping into the palace to celebrate with the triplet Alphas.
The triplets had previously gone out to party with their friends all through the night. Since they have all gotten their wolves, it was no use holding a night party for them. So the party was schedule to start around 3 pm and end anything the guest feel too tired to party.
I was in the kitchen doing finishing touches to all the meals that have been prepared when one of the maids came to tell me that Gwen needed my attention in her room.
it has been a very task full day, even though my both parents were available o assist me in preparing the meals, I did most of the work because I did not want to stress them out.
I quickly excused myself from the event planner and took off the apron I was wearing before heading straight to Gwen’s room. This material belongs to NôvelDrama.Org.
On getting there, I found out that she was already dressed in a long, flowing white dress, one that would make you think she was getting married to the triplets today. But being that she is yet to be twenty-one, she still has another four months to wait for her wolf to pick her mate for her. Her hair and makeup were all done. And honestly, she was looking beautiful—maybe a little extra—but she was looking spectacular.
She was looking pleased and proud as she kept staring at herself in the mirror.
“You sent for me,” I said to her as soon as I entered the room.
I needed to get over what errand she was to send me so that I can rush back to the kitchen and finish up what I was doing because I needed everything regarding food to be perfect.
She turned to look at me like some piece of trash as a nasty smile crept up her lips.
“I require you to hold my dress by its hem as I walk into the hall,” she said.
“I don’t understand; are you getting married today? I thought we were celebrating the triplets’ birthdays and not your wedding,” I said to her, honestly unable to hold myself back from telling her the impression she was creating on everyone’s mind.
The people in the room tried surprising their giggles as a result of what I said, and that infuriated Gwen so much so that she slapped me hard across my face. My first instinct was to slap her back, but when I thought about my parents, I fought hard to control my emotions.
“I will not have you talk back at me,” She said angrily to me, “You are but a maid to me, and you will do what I say without questioning,” she added, and her action shut very another person up in the room.
I was mad, if only anyone could see the lava brewing within my heart for this stupid girl. Tears threatened to cloud my eyes as a result of my inability to defend myself, but I was able to control myself so nothing spills.
“Yes, Gwen,” I replied to her and made to leave the room when she called me back.
“Yes, Gwen,” I replied to her and made to leave the room when she called me back.
“And where the hell are you going?” She yelled at me.
“I am going to freshen up and have a change of clothes,” I said to her.
“Who said you are not okay with what you are wearing?” “Just make sure you don’t stain my dress with your dirty hands; someone gets her wipes to clean her hands off her poverty-stricken self,” she said before turning her face to the mirror.
I couldn’t believe she was asking me to go out like this in front of everyone while holding her dress. It was not like I was badly dressed, as I was wearing a knee-length pleated black skirt and a white short-sleeve shirt that I was provided with when I first arrived here.
But, because I have been working all day without taking a break, I would have very much appreciated taking a bath before going to the people in the hall.
***
The hall was fully packed when Gwen made her grand entrance; she was beaming from ear to ear and exchanging pleasantries with only the people she felt were in the same class as her.
The rich folks in our packs did not fail to show what they knew how to do best as they kept throwing me a demeaning look as I looked behind Gwen.
After what seemed like forever, we arrived at the high table, where the alpha and the Luna were already seated. I excused myself, so I can go assist the others in the kitchen. But on seeing me move a step, she stopped me, while insisting that I stand behind her. Which was very embarrassing, especially since there was no chair for me to sit down on when every other person sat down.
After this, our alpha stood up to give the welcome speech. He talked about how proud he was that his sons were finally old enough to take over the affairs of the pack, and how he was looking forward to the day they would be finally mated to their fated Luna. He also talked about how the pack has been accumulating wealth and how well the moon goddess has blessed the pack.
After the long speech, it was finally time to bring in the birthday boys, about whom, honestly, by now I was getting very nervous.
Like, how am I supposed to face all three brothers who have various opinions about me? I have been completely avoiding them since yesterday, after that incident in Gwen’s room.
The sudden clapping of hands brought me back to reality as my eyes followed everyone’s gaze to the entrance of the hall, where all three brothers walked in side by side in matching outfits.
They are looking so handsome in black pants, white shirts, and black leather jackets. It would be almost impossible for anyone to tell them apart, but not me.
I could tell Denver was in the middle, maybe because he is always wearing a cold look, while Derrick was at his right-hand side and Devon was at his left-hand side.
Eligible daughters of high-profile pack members were busy making themselves available for the triplet, and I was truly disgusted at the show of shamelessness.
They walked to the high table where we were standing and exchanged pleasantries with their parents first and then their soon-to-be nannies.
I couldn’t help but notice the fact that each of the triplets kept stealing glances at me occasionally, which made me very uncomfortable.
The queen called me and asked me to go get drinks as it was time for the toast.
Gwen appeared to be offended by the fact that the queen was sending me away from her side, where she feels I belong, but she does so well not to let her emotions spill.
I hurried to where the wine glasses had been arranged and took some to distribute among the people, and when everyone had gotten a drink,
I sneaked back into the kitchen and sat down on the floor; my legs were seriously hurting from all the standing positions I had been in all day.
After some minutes, I noticed the kitchen door open, and someone walked in. At first, I thought nobody was in the kitchen and was about to go back when I stood up to see who it was.
I immediately regretted my decision as soon as my eyes came into contact with Denver’s cold eyes. My heart picked up its pace as he stared at me from where he stood.
“What are you doing here?” he questioned, fixing his steady gaze upon me as if trying to decipher whether I was going to lie to him or not.
“I was tired and needed to rest my legs,” I answered in all honesty.
He looked at me with his beautiful eyes, and something about the way his eyes kept moving around my body, It makes me so nervous. No, not because I am scared of him, but because there was something that I couldn’t exactly make out what it was.
“Tonight as soon as the party is over, I want to see you in my room,” he said, his eyes bulging into mine the entire time.
My heart skipped a beat at his strange request. What could he possibly want me to come and do for him in his room?
I have been told several times by the other maids in the palace that the triplet rooms were out of ban for the maids. Not knowing how to answer him, I said the first thing that came to my mind.
“I will be sleeping by then,” I told him, subconsciously biting my lower l*p, which is a habit of mine whenever I tell a lie.
If he knew I was lying, he didn’t say it; his face gave nothing away as he fixed his eyes on mine.
“Trust me, you don’t want to know what I am capable of if I don’t see you in my room tonight,” he said in a deep, rough, threatening voice that sent chills down my spine.
