Chapter 4 It’s President Lloyd!
Evelyn didn’t even bring much clothes with her when she left the villa, let alone any luggage. When she was wandering on the street, she received a call from her mother. She did not tell her mother anything. After holding back her sobs and hanging up the phone, she stayed in a diner till late at night.
In the end, she finally called her best friend, Grace Glenn.
Evelyn broke down and cried so hard that she couldn’t say a complete sentence. She just repeated, “I’m going to divorce. I’m going to divorce…”
After asking for her location, Grace kept Evelyn on the phone all the way till she came to the diner. When Grace saw Evelyn sitting alone in a corner, her heart ached. She walked over and held Evelyn in her arms. “Evelyn, I’m here.”
Evelyn cried for a while. After wiping away her tears, she followed Grace back to her apartment. This was a duplex apartment in a prime location. For a girl like Grace who came from a rich background, it was nothing.
“Tell
me, what’s going on?” Grace made Evelyn a cup of tea.
Only then did Evelyn start talking and tell her the ins and outs of the matter. Grace sighed after listening. “Evelyn, actually, I’m not at all surprised that Jerry would cheat.”
Evelyn was puzzled. Grace continued, “Not long after you two got married, Jerry asked for my number once. I didn’t give it to him because I felt awkward. And I didn’t tell you about it because I didn’t want to mess up your marriage. Who knew he’d turn to sleep
with Maura!”

Evelyn was stunned. It turned out that Jerry had been eyeing her friends for a long time!
“Evelyn, get divorced. Nora treated you like you can’t fight for yourself, you have to prove her wrong! You know what, my father’s legal counsel is from HM Law Office. I’ll ask him to pull some strings.” Ccontent © exclusive by Nô/vel(D)ra/ma.Org.

“You want me to file a lawsuit against Jerry?” Evelyn felt flustered, “I don’t have enough money or resources…”
Not to mention mental strength. After all, it’d be hard to be in court with the person she loved the most!

“Evelyn, don’t be silly. Get your sh*t together and kick their asses! I’ll have it arranged for you. Let’s get this settled!”

The next day, constantly nagged by her friend, Evelyn went to HM Law Office. It was located in the most pricey area in the city, occupying two floors of the building. The most famous lawyers in the country all worked here.
Evelyn came here to meet with a Mr. Warren. The receptionist told her that the lawyer would be here soon and asked her to wait
on the sofa.
After a while, she heard the receptionist saying, “Good morning, President Lloyd, Mr. Warren.”
Hearing the name “Warren“, Evelyn looked up. But when she saw the man walking in, she froze on the spot.
She knew that face only too well because she had just slept with this guy not long ago!
The suite in the club, the darkness of the night, the big and soft bed, the clothes scattered all over the floor,
Why would he be here?!
Obviously, Huston hadn’t expected to run into Evelyn here either. He narrowed his charming eyes and stopped in his tracks.
Lloyd!
The receptionist informed Evelyn, “Miss Shelton, this is Mr. Warren.”
Steve Warren was a plumpy man with glasses in his thirties. “Hello, Miss Shelton. I’ve received your request. Shall we go in and
talk?”
Evelyn really wanted to say “no“, but thinking of all Grace had done for her, she had to nod stiffly. “Okay.”
“They’re going to have a meeting in your office soon. Come to my office.” Huston suddenly spoke up.
Steve didn’t find anything strange, but Huston’s words sounded different to Evelyn. She felt even more awkward and flustered.
The three of them walked towards his office. Everyone greeted the man respectfully with “Good morning, President Lloyd“.
President Lloyd! He was the boss of the famous HM Law Office, a big shot that no one dared to mess with in both business and political circles!
Evelyn felt so uneasy as she sat down on a chair, her whole–body was stiff.
“Miss Shelton, I heard that you’re going to file for divorce. Would you mind telling me about your current situation with your
husband?” Stevé asked.
Evelyn stole a glance at Huston. Seeing that he was focusing on his own work, she whispered, “I’ve been married for a year. Yesterday’I caught him sleeping with another woman. The woman was my friend. My husband’s mother knew about it. Only I was kept in the dark! Now I want a divorce, but they won’t let me.”
“Do you have children?”
“No.” She bit her lip and paused for a moment, “…I never slept with my husband, actually.”
Steve nodded, “I see. Then it should be fairly simple for you to get a divorce. What do you want to get from this?”
Evelyn’s eyes flashed with hatred. “I want to ruin my husband’s reputation, and I want everything that belongs to me.”
“Okay, we will definitely help you win as much property as we can. Do you have any evidence to prove that your husband cheated on you, Miss Shelton?”
Evelyn was stunned. “Evidence?”
“Yes. Any text messages, photos, videos; anything that can prove your husband did cheat on you.”
“I–I have nothing.”
“You’ll need to try and find some solid evidence then, Miss Shelton. We need reliable material evidence to win this lawsuit.”
Evelyn was totally frustrated. Lacking evidence was enough to stop her endeavors. She stood up, thinking about leaving, but Huston suddenly said, “I have advice for you, Miss Shelton.”
It was well–known that Huston never engaged in any marriage lawsuit. Steve was stunned for a moment but ended up leaving the room, providing some space for the two to discuss further.
Evelyn stood where she was, feeling embarrassed.
Dressed in a custom–made suit, the man exuded an air of elegance on his plush leather chair.
“Tell me, are you serious about the divorce?”
