Dear Contract Wife, You Are Mine

Chapter 15

Title: Funtime with husby

Maybelline Walter POV

I got bored of staying inside the room, so I decided to take a walk to the kitchen to get water as I was thirsty.

I heard the sound of a machine coming from the kitchen as I descended the staircase and I presumed it was Adelie in there, so I proceeded downstairs.

“Hey, sister-in-law. How are you feeling now?” Miguel, who was in the living room and playing video games turned and asked me as soon as I walked inside the living room.

“Yes, I’m fine. Thank you. Miles told me you checked up on me. Thanks a lot,” I smiled at him, and he nodded.

“Anything for you, sister-in-law,” It felt really weird having him call me that, and even though I wanted to tell him to just address me by my name, a part of me felt it would be rude, so I just let it be.

I strode into the kitchen to get water, and upon opening the door, I found Miles making orange juice. He paused when he saw me enter the kitchen.

“Oh, you’re here?” He smiled at me widely like he was so excited to see me.

“Hmm. I came to get water,” I said to him, and he slowly nodded.

“I made this for you. I’m still making more,” He handed me a glass of juice mixed with milk.

“Miguel told me that this will help relieve the pain,” He uttered, and I slowly nodded as I took the glass from him.

“Thank you,” I muttered awkwardly. It felt so awkward that Mr. Miles was being like this around me. I felt like he had ulterior motives if not many, but I couldn’t decipher what it was all about. He couldn’t be so nice to me all of a sudden for no good reason, yeah?

“I will keep the rest in the refrigerator when I’m done making them,” He further said, and I awkwardly nodded.

“Thanks for this. I’ll be on my way now,” I said to him and walked out of the kitchen. I breathed out as soon as I closed the kitchen door.

“This is getting scarier,” I muttered as I shook my head.

“Don’t you feel bored staying inside the room, huh? Do you want to join me?” Miguel asked when I was about to take the stairs back to my room, and I looked at him.

“It’s boring to play video games alone, but having someone watching me will make it fun,” He further said, probably to convince me, and I didn’t think twice before I went to sit beside him on the couch.

“Do you know how to play it?” He glanced at me and asked, his fingers never pausing as they moved speedily on the pad like a pro. He wasn’t even looking at what he was pressing, yet it looked like he was playing it perfectly. For how long has he been playing this game for him to be so perfect in it?

“No, I’m not a gamer,” I shook my head, and he scoffed.

“Oops! You and Miles have something in common. He doesn’t like playing video games either, and as a manner, I think he is very boring,” Miguel stated, and I laughed briefly.

“I heard that. There is nothing special about video games. You should spend more time in your career than wasting your time pressing the keypad all day like you are earning from it,” Miles uttered as he walked into the living room, and Miguel rolled his eyes.

“Whatever!”

“May… Come sit with me here. I have something to tell you,” Miles said out of the blue moon, and I raised my eyebrows as I looked at him.

“Me?” I asked dumbly as if there was someone else here with us bearing the name. Instead of replying to me, he patted the space beside him on the couch where he was seated.Content © provided by NôvelDrama.Org.

“Come on, go sit with your husband,” Miguel urged me, and my cheeks heated up embarrassingly. I stood up and went to sit beside Miles.

“What did you want to tell me?” My voice came out expectedly low and weak as I looked at his chest level. I was so nervous to look at his face.

“Here,” He mumbled as he patted his shoulder, and I finally looked at his face.

“Hu… huh?”

“That place is not convenient. You should rest on my shoulder. You’ll feel more comfortable,” My heart fluttered when he said that. It felt like I was a character in a movie or a romance book because these things could only happen between the two leading characters.

“Uhm…” I paused and batted my eyelashes. I glanced over to Miguel, but he wasn’t looking at us.

“I’m fine there,” I said to him and tried to stand up, but he held my hand and sat me back on the couch.

“I insist,” He uttered seductively, his eyes piercing into mine, and I swallowed the lump that formed in my throat.

“Uhm… I am really…” He held the side of my face and rested my head on his shoulder.

“Relax…” He hushed, and I bit my bottom lip. Gosh! Was he trying to seduce me?

It felt so awkward being in this position in front of his brother, but he didn’t seem to mind.

“Miles… I want to go shopping later. I need new clothes since I’ll be resuming work next Monday…” I quickly raised my head.

“Really? Should we go together then?” I asked Miguel, and he glanced at Miles.

“Please… I’m fine now. I really want to go with you,” I pleaded with him, and he nodded.

“Anything for you, sister-in-law,” His reply made me so excited.

“When are we going? I should go get dressed,” I stood up quickly and asked him.

“I was thinking in a few minutes…”

“I’ll be back,” I cut him off and rushed off, heading to my room.

After I got dressed, I went back to the living room, but was stunned to find Lily seated comfortably on the couch and staring at Miguel while blushing.

“Lily… You are here?” I spoke up as I walked into the living room, and she stood up. She came to hug me.

“I’m just doing this because of Miguel and Miles. I don’t want to look like a bad person. Trust me, you are not my friend anymore,” She whispered in my ear as she hugged me.

“You should play cool if you want to come with us. I’m going shopping with Miguel,” I whispered back to her, and she gasped.

“Really? Come on, sweetheart. You know I love you. Tell him so we can go together,”

“What are you guys doing?” Miguel spoke up out of the blue moon, and we finally disengaged.

“It’s nothing… I just missed her so much and had to hug her like that,” Lily smiled at him nervously as she explained, and he just turned his face away.

“I’m going with you. Wait for me while I go get dressed,” Miles uttered as he stood up. He left for his room.

“I’ll be back,” Miguel also stood up and left for his room. It’s embarrassing how he didn’t even look at Lily even with all the green flag she was showing him. Maybe he was not just interested in her, who knows?

“He is so cute,” Lily gushed and cupped her cheeks in her palms, and I rolled my eyes.

“You should wake up, Lily. It doesn’t seem like he likes you,” I wanted to tell her the truth, but I held myself back in order not to hurt her feelings.

Miguel was first to come back fully dressed, and of course, Lily didn’t fail to gush over him. No lies, he looked incredible.

“What’s taking Miles so long?” I mumbled as I checked my wristwatch, but just then, I heard footsteps descending the staircase, and my jaw dropped to the ground when I looked in the direction.

He looked perfect just like a model. From the pair of black trousers he wore, to the button-up shirt which had the sleeves folded up to his elbow lines, to his black shoes which matched his outfit, the only thing I could say was ‘wow’.

‘No perfect-looking man exists’ Was what they said, but I saw the perfection in Miles. Damn! Am I falling for this grumpy nice contracted husband of mine? I asked myself, but this time, I failed to remind myself that he was not my kind of man. Maybe I changed my mind already…
