Chapter 28
Chapter 28
“I have to be on my way but you should think of all I have said.” Jessica voiced out. Ignoring Vanessa’s glare, She went over to Cole and crouched down before him. “I have a meeting with a client. I just wanted to pop in and see how you were doing. I will go over the documents, come up with a perfect solution and we will talk at night.”
Tra counting on you.” He whispered to her.
“Sure, I am not going to disappoint my best friend. Take care of yourself and text me if you need anything. Jess initiated a hug with Cole, kissing him on the cheek.
“Get rid of that bitch as soon as possible.” She said to him before pulling away, not caring that Vanessa could hear her.
She didn’t pay attention to Vanessa’s glare as she exited the living room.
“What the hell was that, Cole?” Vanessa sniffled once Jessica was out of sight.”
“You watched her talk nasty to me and you didn’t even defend me for one bit.”
“Please take your leave, I am not in the mood.”
“Why do you keep hurting me, Cole? I do everything for you but you never appreciate me!”
Cole Matthis stares at her curiously. “What did you do for me in particular that I never appreciated?”
“Come on, I have been here for you through thick and thin. When your so–called wife ran away and you were miserable, I stuck by you. Even your gold–digging best friend was nowhere to be found.”
“Don’t you dare talk nasty about them!”
“What now?! It’s not just Hailey. You’ve added her to the list?”
“And why does that bother you?”
“Having a female best friend doesn’t exist. She is in love with you.”
“Not that I owe you any explanation but do you realize that Jess is married?”
“Oh please, even my mother’s friends are crushing on you. Who says a married woman like Jess can’t have nasty thoughts about you.”
Cole sighed deeply. “I regret ever knowing you, Vanessa. You’ve really ruined my life. I am honestly done with you so please take your leave.”
Vanessa shook her head. “If I can’t have you then no one else can. What did that bitch mean earlier? Who was she referring to as your children?”
“Stay out of my business.”
“No, it’s either you or no one else, Cole. There is no way I am giving up on you.”
“I spoke to my Mom. She has a friend who can loan us some money for our dream wedding.”
“You are comfortable getting married to me with someone else’s money?”
“Don’t make it sound so terrible! Besides, we are loaning it so we are good!”
Cole sighed deeply, rising to his feet. He closed the gap with her. “There is no way in hell I am getting married to you. I will choose to be single over and over again than to be stuck with you. forever. Please stay away from me and my business.”
“Please, Cole!” She held his other arm, her lips quivering. “Please don’t do this to me.”
“I can’t live without you. I know you always wanted a family. We will get married, I will get pregnant and we can give birth to as many kids as we want, I promise.”
“You changed your mind? Thought you made up your mind not to ever have kids because you don’t want to lose your shape?”
“I said so. But I’m willing to do anything just for us to be together.”
“I am not interested in you. Let go of me!” Cole wriggled his arm out of her hold.”
“I hate that you don’t take me seriously.” She stormed away, exiting the living room.
Cole heaved a sigh of relief. He was about to take out his phone from his pocket to inform the security not to ever allow Vanessa in his home when she suddenly appeared before him, holding a knife and pointing it against her wrist, threatening to harm herself.
“What the hell are you doing?”
“I am going to kill myself if you are not going to get married to me.”
“What the hell is wrong with you?” Cole was still on his feet. He stared at her, took a glance at the knife in her hand then back at her face.
“Look, I don’t have time for your tantrums. Let go of the knife!”
“No!” Tears started rolling down her cheeks. “I’m going to hurt myself if you do not marry me.”
“What are you? A five–year–old? You are going to hurt yourself just because of a man.”
“You are not just any man Cole. I can’t see my sister having you. You are mine. That’s so unfair.”
“Are you sure this is about me? Or are you just being jealous of your sister?”
“I’m not jealous of that bitch. I am only fighting for what’s rightfully mine.”

“By harming yourself? Are you freaking kidding me?”
“I am going to kill myself if you don’t marry me.”
“Can you just…….Holy shitttttt!” Cole’s voice took over the room as Vanessa cut herself with a very sharp knife. The knife fell from her hand and blood started gushing out from her hand. It was evident that she never wanted to harm herself. She was hoping Cole was going to give in and had no idea when she pierced the very sharp object through her wrist.
“Help me,” She cried harder as blood gushed from her wrist, running down her arm and subsequently spilling on the floor.
“You’re just a fucking psycho. I don’t know why you would do that to yourself!” Cole said at the top
of his voice, glaring at Vanessa as the blood kept dripping on the flourself!” Cole said at the top
“I can’t even handle myself, that was why I contracted a nurse to come every day to dress and treat my wound and she left already. What the fuck do you expect me to do now?”
“Help me, Cole, do something. Make the blood stop, it hurts so much! Please!!” Vanessa cried, a tiny bit of mucus escaping from her nose.
“It hurts so much, Cole.” She stretched out her hand, not being able to stare at it.
Cole cursed inaudibly.
“Matilda!!!” He called his housekeeper, hoping she would be of help because he honestly had no idea what to do to help her.
“Vanessa?!!! Holy shit!!!” Cole cursed as he saw her fall to the floor. Original content from NôvelDrama.Org.
“Matilda?!!!!” Cole yelled at the top of his voice hoping she was going to hear him now.”
He crouched down to the floor where Vanessa was and started shaking her. “You need to stop if this is a big joke, Vanessa. Please open your eyes.”
“Sorry for the delay, sir. I was….” Matilda was saying when She sighted the duo on the floor.
Fortunately, she had a scarf around her neck so she loosened it and approached the duo, wrapping the scarf around her wrist.
“This looks really deep. We need to take her to the hospital, Sir.”
“Go call the driver to come carry her to the car, Cole instructed and Matilda did as her boss said.
In no time, Amos came in, carried Vanessa in his arms and Cole joined them in the car as Amos drove to the hospital.
Cole was on his feet, outside the ward, when he saw Eric and Connie approach him with worried faces. He had called them on his way to the hospital.
“How is she?” Connie’s voice came through.
“I don’t know. The doctor is still attending to her.”
“This is all your fault, you know right!” Connie accused Cole.
“Connic, please!” Eric stopped her.
“Don’t shun me, Eric. You know I am telling the truth.”
“You have no idea what you are talking about!”
“If you had married her as you promised me, this wouldn’t be happening! She saved your life in the past and you are unwilling to do the same for her.”
“Enough with your manipulative talks!” Cole raised his voice at her. “I made you understand that I don’t love your daughter. You all are delusional if you think I am going to get married to her just because she cut herself. How old is she again to be throwing silly tantrums? You all clearly have no shame!”
“I don’t love your daughter, I don’t want anything to do with her so you all should leave me the hell
alone!”
Connie’s lips were quivering, about to say something when Cole interrupted..
“I won’t hesitate to sue if you all come to me with this nasty marriage talk again. I love someone. else so you all should fuck off!”
Eric was about to intervene when the doctor walked out of the ward and approached them.
“You all for Vanessa Summers?”
“Yes, Doc, How’s she?” Connie asked with a shaky voice.
“The cut was a bit deep and she lost quite some blood but she will be fine. She passed out due to shock and so much pain. No doubt she’s been going through so much stress but the baby is fine.”
“Baby?“,
“W…what baby?” Connie asked, confused.
“She’s pregnant.” Dr Telford answered.
