An Ice Queen for sale (Alice)

Chapter 6

Chapter 6 Do I have a heart?

"Gemma, I asked my parents to find a girl for me. They chose one. I'm only going to use her as a bait. And because of the situation, I'm more than sure I'll be a widow soon." Her eyes widened more.

"You are marrying a girl to get her killed?"

I sighed.

"Yes, but this is only to keep you safe."

Tears appeared in her eyes. I couldn't stand a woman crying. It annoyed me. I pulled her into my embrace and kept her for a few seconds.

"But Gideon, what if you fell in love with her? And you are going to leave me?"

I laughed.

"That will never happen. I like you. Don't even think about that."

I kissed her lips. I didn't do that often, but now I wanted to calm her down.

"I'll call you soon, okay?"

"What kind of girl she is? Where did she come from?"Ccontent © exclusive by Nô/vel(D)ra/ma.Org.

"Gemma, stop it."

"Answer me." She yelled again, which annoyed me, but I tried to calm myself this time. I didn't want to be mean to her.

"I don't know, as I don't care. Calm down, okay? I understand it's not what you expected, but it has no meaning at all. Don't even think about it."

She nodded, still crying. I caressed her shoulders, turned around, and left. I sat in my car and I felt relieved. Honestly, I had nothing to do. I just wanted to leave quickly, avoiding the argument between us. I turned the engine on and drove back home. I had a nice and huge house in Santa Monica. I loved it.

I took my clothes off, and I jumped into my pool to swim a bit. After I was done, I just laid down, enjoying the sunshine. My phone interrupted me. That was my mum again.

"Mum?"

"Gideon, what are you doing?"

"I'm busy, mum."

"Oh, you are always busy. I want you to come here and meet her."

"Mum, I told you already. I don't care about her. You chose, you'll get your incredible dream wedding in exchange, and that's it."

She sighed.

"You should be nice to her."

"Mum, I'll be nice to her. She'll live her last year or two luxurious. I think that is more than enough."

"Gideon, I still can't understand why you defend Gemma that much. She isn't a nice girl at all..." "Bye mum..."

I hung up. I hated that when she started this. She never liked Gemma. I agree that she's got an attitude which disturbed my family. But I never cared about that, because I never thought she would be a Sullivan one time. Despite that, she didn't deserve to suffer. She always did everything to satisfy me. Defending her was the least I could do for her in exchange.

I nearly fell asleep when a familiar voice greeted me. I smiled immediately. That was my brother, Seth.

He looked quite similar to me. He's got dark hair, brown eyes and a muscular body. Even if we looked similar, we were really different inside. He did everything that was expected by our father, but next to our dodgy things, he had a nice family, and he loved and kept his wife, Leah, like she was his treasure.

I only needed a woman to satisfy me. Gemma was the best in it. She knew me well; she wasn't too troublesome, and she could calm me down most of the time. I let her be closer, but I wasn't loyal and never regretted being with someone else without her knowing.

Seth and Leah's story was like a fairy tale. The two met in high school. They fell in love then; they got married when they were 22, and they had a beautiful daughter, the six-year-old Ava. I couldn't stand children, but my niece was the cutest little thing on Earth. "Hi Gideon, are you planning to grill yourself?"

He laughed just like me as he walked closer.

"I'm having a nap."

He sat down next to me.

"Aren't you planning to see mum?"

"No, and if you came because she asked you to make me go there, then I got to tell you, you wouldn't succeed."

"Are you really disinterested?"

"Why would I not?"

"Gideon, you are about to marry a girl."

"You know the reason for that."

"Is Gemma really worth that much?"

I smiled.

"No, but I like her. She does everything to make me happy. Who would satisfy me if she disappears?."

He shook his head.

"Are you in love?"

I laughed.

"No."

"Why don't you want to see her, then?"

"I told you. I don't care about her. She'll be a bait only."

"Don't you feel sorry about her?"

"Maybe a bit, but it doesn't matter."

"And what if Ricardo doesn't plan to do anything like that, and that girl remains your wife?"

I laughed again.

"His wife got injured, and he thinks that was me. Of course he wants revenge and to answer your other question, in that case I would divorce."

"That would cost a lot..."

"No, I'll get our lawyer to make a prenup agreement. She won't get anything, only a small amount of money. That's it." grinned I "I thought of everything, brother." He smiled.

"Do you have a heart, Gideon?"

I tapped the left side of my chest with a grin.

"It's beating."

He shook his head again and stood up.

"Where are you going? You just came."

"I'm going to do what you don't, like always."

I looked at him questioningly while I sat up.

"I'm going home. And I can tell you about her later."

"I told you, I don't care, and I won't change my mind."

"Fine. See you later, Gid."

Then he walked away. He made me think about the situation, but I stopped myself in a few seconds. I needed to go into my nightclub, so I had to get ready. I only hoped that Gemma calmed down, as I had to meet her there, like always.
