NIRVANA
“You haven’t answered my question.” He sounded pissed, so when he suggested to get out of the vineyards and drive, I didn’t resist. Irritation boiled down the surface, showing all over his face. “Nirvana, I’m not talking to myself here.”
I couldn’t argue with an angry alpha, and I couldn’t tell him the truth either, at least if I could keep it to myself longer.Text © by N0ve/lDrama.Org.
“I heard you the first time, Knight.” Honestly, I wanted to stay, but I was not sure if we could work it out if Zarah couldn’t find a way to break the curse, and I would stay human for the rest of my life.
I had already sacrificed a lot here. I left my life, my dream back in New York, left my grandfather alone to be with him. I was still not entirely sure if he would do the same if he were in my position.
“And?”
“Maybe I stay human forever. Are you okay with a weak human mate? I know you wished you had a mate like Shadow. Strong, powerful, gifted, and with a lot of connections, and I can’t compete.”
“For fuck sake, Nirvana. I know what I signed up for.” He was really mad, driving like a lunatic.
“Can you slow down?” Irritation rose in my chest, and he started to scare me. I remembered Kailin told me not to pick a fight with the alpha and piss him off. I had to check my seatbelt and make sure it was secured. “You’re scaring me.”
“Now you’re scared. I’m not even driving fast.”
The car felt like flying as we reached the main road.
“Pull over if you have a death wish. I’m human, and I don’t heal fast like you. Whatever pissed you off is ridiculous. I wanna get out, Knight. I’d rather walk home.”
He stepped on the brake, tires screeching the asphalt road, and burnt rubber filled the air. He breathed hard before his angry stare fixed on me.
“I want to say this once and for all, Nirvana, and make sure you keep this in mind. The moment I decided to take a trip to New York to take you with me, I accepted the fact that you are human.”
I watched him pour his heart out to me, and the more his face filled with emotions, the more he looked more beautiful.
“The Goddess wouldn’t have paired us if we were not good together. With or without the mating bond, I like you. And I don’t like you comparing yourself with another woman. Yes, she’s powerful because she’s a Lycan with a gift, but you are you. You have your own strength. And I don’t give a shit about you getting a gift. Just you being here is enough for me.”
I didn’t know what had gotten into me. I held my breath and unbuckled my seatbelt so I could cup his face and looked right into his eyes, and our sexual tension crackled up enough to cause a massive explosion inside the car.
We stared at each other for a moment, our noses merely a thread apart. He looked so intense, fiery, and hot, and I could feel the warmth of his breath on my face. When his eyes landed on my lips, I took the leap and leaned in. I closed my eyes and pressed my lips against his.
He gasped, unmoving for a moment, and I hoped it was a good gasp, or I swore I wished I wasn’t here as he watched me face the shame.
Knight had incredibly soft lips. His hand came to the back of my neck, and the other unbuckled his seatbelt and moved down my lower back as he kissed me back with enough insistent sucking that could melt me into a puddle. One light kiss turned into a firm, passionate kiss.
I honestly had dreamed of my first kiss with him in a more romantic setting, but what was more romantic than kissing the man who would do everything to make me safe and be with him?
I was totally helpless to the wave of emotions crashing over me.
I hadn’t expected this kiss to be so passionate, toe-curling, and even my clear head could not protest. I melted into him, and when he bit and nipped my bottom lip, a moan escaped my lips.
A hum of approval and pride erupted from his throat, fueling an intense, untamed desire inside me, bringing an ache down my core.
He pulled apart, and we were both breathing hard. He showered me with kisses on my face and lips. “As much as I want to kiss you more on the highway, I’d rather take it somewhere where no one can see us.”
I swallowed and blinked, my face flaming. “Um. Sorry. I didn’t know-”
“You’re quick to regret.” He looked hurt and offended.
“Oh, no. I didn’t mean like that.”
“Then what do you mean?” He leaned in to put my seatbelt back on.
“I never initiated a kiss.”
And he just flipped from a brooding alpha to a smiling, beautiful man. “Good thing you did.”
“Because you never plan on kissing me?”
He scoffed as he buckled his seatbelt and drove. “I thought of you more than just kissing you. Why do you think I put distance between us? I couldn’t keep my hands to myself when we were this close. I hope our first kiss wasn’t that bad.”
My cheeks were burning. “Shut up, and if you tell a soul, I swear to God, alpha or not, I will strangle you in your sleep.”
“Did you just threaten me?” He was more amused than threatened. Eyes glinted with humor.
“Call it whatever you want.”
“Dully noted. Not telling a soul.” He did a cross-my-heart-and-hope-to-die gesture, which was cute.
“I’m serious, Knight.”
“Men don’t usually kiss and tell, but I doubt women could keep their mouth shut.”
“Are you saying-” His phone suddenly rang, putting my thoughts on hold.
“Hold on. Let me take this call.”
“Luka, what is it? I’m out with Nirvana.”
He just growled, which meant Luka, from the other line, said something that just pissed him off. “What the fuck was he thinking? He’s going to get himself killed.”
I gripped his arm. “What’s wrong?”
He glanced at me. “Give me a sec.”
I nodded. “Okay.”
He made a sharp right turn, driving off the road as if we were in a drag race. “Put my name on, Luka. I will stop this madness.” He grunted. “Yes. My name and I don’t give a shit. Now! We’re ten minutes away.”
He hung up the call and tossed the phone to the dashboard.
“What’s going on?”
“Cadogan and his gang are not leaving these twins until they die.”
“What do you mean? North and West? I just met them last night in the kitchen. I made sandwiches for them.”
“You made them sandwiches?” He gave me that look again.
“Don’t change the subject, Knight. How are you planning on stopping this madness?”
“Just watch out. The kids could just kill them in a heartbeat, but that would not stop them from coming after us, escalating havoc into my vineyards.”
“So what’s the plan?”
“I’m the plan.”
