Chapter 22
Never had Sophia felt so embarrassed and angry. She wouldn't have let out her anger if it wasn't for the fact that others were around. Roseline, on the other hand, was pleased with the victory.
'Didn't you want to play the role of a good mother? Well, you should know that it costs a lot.'
Mrs. Will invited Rose again to the party, and Rose played the same trick, looking at Beatrice in silence, implying it was all up to Beatrice to decide.
"Come on, Mrs. Gray. Cut the child some slack and let her go to the party. After all, I heard that Sophia would be attending as well. Don't be too strict with the poor girl." Mrs. Will, who understood what Rose meant with her gaze, turned to look at Beatrice and said with implications.
Beatrice's face was twitching with rage. She knew that Mrs. Will was implying that she was being biased towards Rose for letting Sophia attend the party and not letting Rose attend as well. However, there was no way she could explain herself without sounding disingenuous. All she could do was swallow her anger and nod, "Of course, of course, Roseline should go to the party."
A few minutes earlier, in the private VIP room.
A young woman who looked ravishing, with sharp facial features, a tapering chin, twinkling eyes, long curly hair falling on her shoulders. She was wearing a tight wine dress that reached just down her hips and revealed noticeable curves in the right places. She was absolutely alluring as her red painted lips stretched into a smile while she stared at the man that was sitting opposite her.
The man had a flawless face, an artwork of perfection. His chiseled face made him an irresistible object of desire. Even male peers would gaze upon him with awe and amazement. Especially those deep-set eyes, like they could see through your soul and charm you within seconds.
Unfortunately, compared to his handsome look, the man didn't have an expression on his face. Yet, he emitted a deadly and dangerous aura.
"Mr. King, we've been sitting down here for more than fifteen minutes and you haven't said anything. Is there something wrong?" The woman asked, flashing a flirtatious smile at Alex who hadn't spared her a glance ever since she walked into the room. Her secretary, who was standing behind her, couldn't help but sigh when she heard her boss.
'She should really know when to cut some slack on her flirtation. Alexander King isn't the type of man that would easily fall for such a smile.' The secretary thought in her head.
Derek, who was also standing
behind Alex, frowned when he saw the smile on the woman's face. This woman is the second daughter of the Gale household and works as director in her family business. However, she wasn't the one that they were here to meet. It was her older sister, who was the CEO of the Gale Group. Unlike her older sister, who was known as a very smart and skilled woman in the business industry, the woman sitting in front of Alex was the opposite of her olderTêxt © NôvelDrama.Org.
sister.
She was nothing but a spoiled rich brat who was only able to acquire a position in the Gale Group because it was her family business. She is rumored to have little skill in business but because she didn't want to lose to her older sister who was getting all the recognition from people she had stuck to working in the company. "Miss Gale, I believe that we are here to meet your older sister and not you. Why are you the one showing up here?" Already knowing that Alex wouldn't reply to the woman, Derek asked in place of his boss.
The woman removed her gaze from Alex when she heard Derek's question. 'Pity I thought I was going to hear his mesmerizing voice.' She pouted in disappointment.
It was true that her older sister was
the one who was supposed to show up here. However, when she heard that her sister was going to have a meeting with the famous Alexander King today, she quickly came up with the idea and caused a problem in the company that required her sister's attention. Using the opportunity that her sister was taking care of the issues, she had
come to represent her sister's place
hoping to see Alex.
"That's right, my sister is the person you want to see. Unfortunately, something urgent came up at the company so I was sent to represent her. Why? Did you think I'm not good enough to take my sister's place here at the meeting, Mr. Derek?" She raised her head to look at Derek before replying. She winked her eyes at Derek whose face instantly turned ugly.
This woman doesn't just have a spoiled personality. She had bad rumors surrounding her that most of all the successful contracts and deals she managed to seal were not because of her capabilities. It was rumored that she had used a dirty trick to seduce people to sign contracts.
"Miss Gale should have informed us about what happened-" Derek was unable to complete his sentence when she interrupted him.
"I was the one who told her not to inform you guys, since we can't afford to lose this contract. And besides I'm available and it's also my duty as a director in my family company to make sure that we secure such a big contract."
"Here, these are the files and
documents that my sister was
supposed to bring to you." She waved at her secretary to bring out the files from the bag. Her secretary brought the files and placed them in front of her on the desk while she slid it over to Alex. She rested her elbow on the table, using it to support her chin as she stared at Alex waiting for him to open the file.
However, to her disappointment, Derek was the one who reached out and took the files in front of Alex and went through them.
'He is just like the rumors say about him. He looks so cold and dangerous that I'm even scared to approach him, yet he is so charming as well.' She thought, her attention not focused on the file and on Alex who was busy with his phone and not paying any attention to her.
